Google is the name of the most popular search engine ,it is derived from the word  "GOOGOL" which means  a "1" followed by "100" zero's.

 "GOOGOL" is the mathematical term of a "1" followed by "100" zero's, the term is coined by Milton Sirotta ,  the nephew of America mathematician, Edward Kasner and was popularized in the book "Mathematician and Imagination"  by Kasner and James Newman . Google play on the term reflects the company's mission to organise the immense amount of information available on the web.

Google was  originated from  a misspelling of the word "GOOGOL " , but it was added to the Merriam Webster collegiate dictionary and The Oxford English Dictionary in 2006 meaning  "To use Google search engine to obtain information".

Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey  Brin in 1998. Google began  in March 1998 as a research project by  Larry Page and Sergey  Brin working on the Stanford  Digital Library Project(SDLP). The SDLP goal was to develop the enabling technologies for a single, integrated  digital library and was funded through the National Science Foundation among other federal  agencies.
